Frequently Asked Questions

When should I scan? +
Scan at the end of each business day, before you close. Walk through your lottery section and scan the barcode on every open scratch-off book still on the rack. Once all books are scanned, proceed to Close Day and enter your three numbers.
What if I can't scan a barcode? +
Tap "Enter Manually" on the scan screen. You can type in the game number and book number directly. Every scan has a manual entry fallback — no close is ever blocked by a bad or damaged barcode.
What if a customer buys a ticket mid-scan? +
Two ways to fix it: tap the book's row in your Today's Scan list and update the ticket count manually, or simply re-scan the book after the sale. The app will update the count to reflect the current state of the book.
What are "New Books"? +
New books are books you activated today — meaning you opened a new scratch-off book and began selling from it during this shift. Enter the total value of all books you activated. This number comes from your NY Lottery terminal's daily report.
What is "Yesterday's Inventory"? +
This is the total value of all unsold scratch-off tickets from the previous closing session. Lottery Track calculates this automatically from your prior close — you don't need to enter it yourself. It carries forward each night.
What are Payouts? +
Payouts are cash you paid out to customers who won on scratch-off tickets. Enter the total dollar amount of instant ticket winnings you paid out during this shift. This number should match the Instant Validation Payouts figure from your NY Lottery terminal.
What is Online Sales? +
This is your total online lottery terminal sales for the day — numbers games, Powerball, Mega Millions, and other draw games sold through the terminal. Enter the Online Summary Balance from your terminal's daily close report.
What if my lottery rep took books back today? +
Enter the value of any returned books in the Returns field during Close Day. This adjusts your inventory balance so your closing statement reflects what actually remained in your store at close.
Can multiple employees use the app? +
Yes. Add employees in Settings → Employees. Each person gets their own login. Every closing session is attributed to the employee who completed it, giving you a full audit trail of who closed and when.
How do I add an employee? +
Go to Settings → Employees → Add Employee. Enter their name and email address. They'll receive an invitation to create their own account. Once they sign up, they can log in and perform closings on any device — their sessions will be attributed to their name automatically.
What if the barcode scan shows the wrong game? +
The game library is maintained centrally and updated automatically when new NY Lottery games are released. If you believe a scan is returning the wrong game, tap the result to review and correct it manually, then contact us at admin@getlotterytrack.com so we can update the library.
Do I need any special equipment? +
No. Just an iPhone. No scanners, no hardware, no setup fees. The barcode scanner uses your phone's built-in camera. If you already own an iPhone running iOS 15 or later, you're ready to start.
How long does it take to set up? +
Most store owners are up and running in under 10 minutes. Download the app, create your account, enter your store name, and you're ready to close. No complex configuration, no importing spreadsheets, no training required.
How do I scan a barcode? +
Open the app and tap the Scan tab. Point your phone camera at the barcode printed at the bottom of any open lottery book. The app identifies the game automatically — no button press required. Just hold steady and the scan completes in under a second.
What happens after my first scan? +
Your books appear in the Today's Scan list. Once all books are scanned, go to Close Day, enter your three numbers (New Books Activated, Online Summary Balance, Payouts), and tap Close. Your statement generates instantly.
Can I use it for multiple stores? +
Yes. You can manage multiple store locations from one account. Each store has its own inventory, closing history, and employee team. Switch between stores instantly from the app. See our pricing page for multi-store rates.
Is there a free trial? +
Yes. 7 days free, no credit card required. You get full access to all features during the trial — scanning, closing, PDF generation, employee accounts, everything. At the end of your trial you'll be prompted to subscribe if you'd like to continue.
How much does it cost? +
$14.99/month per store. If you manage 2 or more stores, each store is $12.99/month. That works out to about $0.50 per day — less than a cup of coffee. See the full breakdown on our pricing page.
Can I cancel anytime? +
Yes. No contracts, no cancellation fees. Cancel from your account settings at any time. Your access continues until the end of your current billing period.
What happens to my data if I cancel? +
Your closing history is retained for 30 days after cancellation. You can export your data as PDF at any time before your data is removed. After 30 days, your data is permanently deleted. We recommend downloading your statements before cancelling if you want to keep them for your records.
Do you offer discounts for multiple stores? +
Yes. 2+ stores are $12.99/store/month. Contact us at admin@getlotterytrack.com for 5+ location pricing.
Is my data secure? +
Yes. All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest (AES-256). We use Supabase enterprise cloud infrastructure with row-level security — the same infrastructure trusted by thousands of businesses worldwide, meeting SOC 2 compliance standards. Your store's data is completely isolated from any other account by design.
Do you sell my data? +
Never. We don't sell, share, or monetize your business data in any way. See our Privacy Policy for full details. We use Supabase for database hosting and Resend for email — these are our only third-party data processors.
Who can see my closing data? +
Only users you authorize — yourself and the employees you add to your store. Lottery Track staff do not access store data except when troubleshooting a specific issue you've reported. Employees can see sessions within their store; they cannot see data from other stores or other accounts.
What happens if I lose my phone? +
Your data is stored in the cloud, not on your device. Sign in on any iPhone to access your full history and pick up where you left off. We recommend using a strong password and enabling two-factor authentication on your Apple ID for additional protection.
